Digital Photo Guardian - Features

DPG always warns me if I’ve deleted a photo. Can I turn that off?

No. The warnings are probably your last chance to reconsider deletions and catch any unintentional ones. It’s all too easy to accidentally delete files in Windows…

I use product X for backups. Will DPG still benefit me?

Yes, it will. It monitors your backups in real time and warns you if a backup is missing or is deleted. The professional version can speed up the backup process by renaming backup photos when the source image is renamed. The professional version also features Smart Backup Check, which heuristically checks if a backup is valid.

Is DPG a RAW converter/image editor?

No. DPG is a Digital Asset Manager and photo catalogue manager. It can create a JPG/PNG from RAW photos, but you need a RAW converter for serious RAW image conversion. We recommend DXO Photo Lab or Luminar for RAW conversion.

Digital Photo Guardian - Why Buy

I already have PRODUCT X, why should I use Digital Photo Guardian?

DPG almost certainly does things your current tools do not. It actively manages your digital photo collection, warns you of deleted images, keeps your backup up to date, and keeps a history of all the edits to a photo.

I already use Lightroom. What does Digital Photo Guardian give me?

Simply put, control. Lightroom is a photo organizer and image catalogue tool, but it is reactive not proactive. Try deleting a photo using Windows File Explorer. Lightroom simply ignores it. DPG will ‘red flag’ that immediately, giving you the all important second chance to recover the image before it’s too late.

DPG warns you if your backups are not up to date and the professional version will do the backup for you.

DPG easily integrates with all the photo editing tools you use.
